Fire Update
It was a little wild here last week. Fires down low, fires up on top running down into the canyon. Closures, floaters trapped, a real interesting week.
We where going to float down low and chase steelhead 19-21st and changed plans based on the fires around Lockit. Apparently I had my last look at Dr. Dixx's cabin ( Johnson homestead). We saw the smoke in Eagle Creek the night of the 20th and the 21st, but thought it was just smoke from up top. I guess it ran down from the Juniper Flats and into Eagle Creek and Nena Creek. Unknowingly, we made it out by a day. Closures started to go into effect the 22nd. So it burnt Johnson's flat and around Dant and is listed as still active. According to the BLM official I spoke to Johnson's Homestead burnt and the outhouse as well.
the fire is still active, but they have opened up Trout Creek to Harpham. Here is a place to get updates, and openings.
